Meet the Counselors

Dr. Tim McNeil, LMHC

(Located in our Ormond Location)

Timothy L. McNeil is the Executive Director of the Genesis Counseling Center. Tim is an ordained United Methodist Minister and was officially appointed by the Bishop of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church to this position in June of 1999. Tim served as a parish minister in the Florida Conference for fifteen years and served appointments at Hollywood Hills, Madison, Daytona Beach, and Palm Harbor.

Tim received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Florida and a Masters of Divinity Degree from Emory University. He received his clinical training at the Samaritan Center in Jacksonville and received his Doctorate in Counseling from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1992. He is a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and was licensed as a mental health counselor (MH0003217) in the State of Florida in 1993. Tim was an adjunct faculty member at Flagler College in St. Augustine for four years and taught “Death and Dying.” He currently serves as Chaplain at the Daytona International Speedway.




Dawn Yelvington, MFT-Intern

Dawn Yelvington has experience working with adults, adolescents, couples and families who are struggling with relational conflicts, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems. She also has experience in working with clients and families struggling with substance abuse issues. Ms. Yelvington utilizes a variety of therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapy. As a therapist, she is open and supportive in her approach with her clients, with the goal of empowering them to function at their optimal potential. She encourages her clients to achieve a higher level of self-awareness, self-acceptance and the courage to face their struggles. Ms. Yelvington received her Bachelors degree from Warner Southern College and her Masters degree from Stetson University in Marriage and Family Therapy. She graduated from both programs with honors and specializes in women’s issues to include low self-esteem, depression and codependency. She is a current member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society, and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist.




Michelle Patterson

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH 7765)

Michelle Patterson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Her experience includes working with adults, children, and families, coping with adjustment to life changes, loss, new diagnosis, depression, anxiety, boundary setting, codependency, problem solving, and stress management. Michelle encourages an environment of growth and healing where clients can discover their fullest potential. She incorporates a variety of counseling models including Client Centered, Strengths Based, Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and Holistic. Michelle’s passion for Holistic counseling is exemplified through Mind, Body, Spirit retreat speaking and educational support classes. Michelle received her Bachelors degree from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY. She is a current member of the Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers and the American Association of Christian Counselors .
